It might seem a bit overwhelming to folks not knowing what they would be signing up for as it were.
The PTA board can be a wonderful co-operative group that inspires and organizes the Parents and Teachers at Hedenkamp elementary to provide fun opportunities and resources for the kids at our school.
Not just events like the Husky Howl and the family dances, I believe the PTA provides scholarships for field trips, help with paying for buses, school and ART supplies.
Working together, no one or two people need to be doing all the work. Different board positions have areas that they are asked to co-ordinate with parents and other PTA members.

You don’t need to be outspoken or know a lot of people to help contribute. There are positions for everyone, and lots of behind the scenes needs that can be handled by shy people, too. Also, Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles and even neighborhood supporters of our kids are welcome to join the PTA and serve on the board.
